Weaving Love, Eros, and Men's Work with Ian MacKenzie

Season #1

What does Ian MacKenzie know about love, eros, and men's work?

Well, for one, he is part of the core team that created the documentary film, The Village of Lovers - a film that shows to the world the radical and revolutionary community, known as Tamera.
But, he didn't just film from the sidelines. Ian lived there on and off over the course of a decade, breathing in the culture of Tamera.
When you see the film, you'll understand why that would cause me to look to Ian as a teacher of love, eros, and relationship.

Beyond the film, Ian is also the founder of the The Mythic Masculine ecosystem, which includes a podcast, immersive events, and online courses that aim to realign men & masculinity with their necessary and inherent place in the web of all our relations.

So, I was very excited to drop in with Ian and explore these threads with him.

One of my favorite things to do in these conversations with my guests is to unpack tensions.
So, in this episode, I ask Ian to talk about the tensions between:

- Polyamory as a wetland and relational exclusivity as a river (metaphor coined by Jack Zimmerman)

- The traditional views of elder mentors around marriage + matrimony and the views on free love and open relating espoused in Tamera

- Romantic relationship as a vehicle for healing and community as the vehicle for healing

There's so much richness packed into this too-short episode. I would've loved 3 more hours to talk with Ian. But alas, we'll just have to do it again.
